Acrylic Workshop

WORKSHOP DATE TO BE POSTED                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Students will learn, and have fun designing and creating a painting on a canvas tote bag, using acrylic paint. They will be able to view some design samples that I have already done. I have provided various types of subjects. (See below for samples of the artwork for the tote bags.)  Students may duplicate one of the sample designs, add on and enhance a design, or completely create their own design on a tote bag.

Having students use provided stencils in their artwork, will help expedite the painting time allowed in a limited time workshop. The stencils can be individualized by further painting techniques done on them.  I will provide many stencils to choose from.

Various applications of acrylic painting will be shown. Examples are using acrylics in a “watercolor wash”, adding resist techniques with crayons, imprinting with found objects, working with a stencil, handling the brush in different ways, and using a medium to help the paint flow on fabric, etc.

By the end of the workshop, students will have created a usable tote bag to use, and to take home with them. It also could be possible to attend a second workshop, in order to create a design on the other side of the tote bag, or to paint a new tote bag.
